Ninety years ago, The Astor Hotel was built by Herbert W Tullgren with his brother – a builder and his father – an architect at the prominent address of 924 E Juneau Ave (corner of Astor and Juneau). In 1984, The Astor Hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, The Astor Hotel is still going strong with permanent residents in spacious apartments and visiting guests in luxurious hotel rooms. This prestigious hotel has made its name throughout the years in Milwaukee; and with the ninety-year-old name, it is helping The Masonic Angel Fund spread theirs.

The Masonic Angel Fund (www.angelfund.henrylpalmer301.org) is a local 501(c)(3) organization that raises money to help local school children with immediate needs (i.e.: eyeglasses, outerwear, field trip dues). The Masonic Angel Fund expresses that 100% of the funds raised go directly to the children in need. To date, the Masonic Angel Fund has helped 120 children and one special child with Autism, purchasing a Go-Talk System so the child can speak with teachers and classmates. The Masonic Angel Fund is also sponsoring 25 kids for Summer Camp.

The historic Astor Hotel is celebrating its 90th Anniversary on Saturday June 19th by sponsoring a Shrimp Boil Plus benefit for the Masonic Angel Fund. Peel & Eat Shrimp, Broasted Chicken, Sprecher Pub Ale Beer Battered Cod and numerous sides will be on the menu and prepared by the Milwaukee Elks Lodge No 46 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. An upcoming local band, The Flipping Coins “A Tribute Band to Journey” (www.flippingcoinsband.com) will be jamming out from 7:30pm – 11:00pm. A full cash bar with Sprecher beer and soda specials will be available until 2:00am.

HL Palmer Masonic Angel Fund is in conjunction with Blush Beauty, Milwaukee Elks Lodge No 46 and Sprecher Brewery to raise money for Personal Hygiene Kits for the 2,800 homeless children in the Milwaukee Public School System.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance through the Masonic Angel Fund for $20.00. Please contact Lee Wackman at 414-406-6556 to do so. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.00.
